Newly Discovered Mac OS Malware X-Agent

The folks at BitDefender have discovered a new piece of malware targeting Mac OS via a vulnerability in MacKeeper.  According to Bitdefender, “the Xagent payload now can target victims running Mac OS X to steal passwords, grab screens and steal iPhone backups stored on the Mac.”

X-Agent installs a backdoor that establishes comms channels with CnC servers enabling it to send information from the compromised host, as well as receive commands to take further malicious actions.
